Kim Bankston,was born in Miami,Florida on February 15th, 1954. He started out as a drummer at 13, and along with some close friends formed a band and played in the Miami area for a while. He started playing piano at 19, learning by ear and later joining a R&B band by the name of The Formula Six Band in Opa Locka, Florida where he was keyboardist and one of the lead vocalists. He stayed with the group for seven years. He decided to go solo in 1984 and attended the Music Business Institute (currently the Art Institute of Atlanta) in Atlanta, Georgia receiving a degree in recording engineering.In June of 1988, Kim became the Music Director at Christ The King Catholic Church in Perrine, Florida. He directed the choir and played all of the services for nine years. In August of 1996. he left to attend Full Sail Real World Education in Winter Park, Florida where he received a degree in recording engineering.Moving back to Miami in 1999 he met Andre Vaughn Gibson (multi talented recording artist) who invited him to come to Mallorca, Spain to perform with him with The Temptations Revue. Kim performed with the group from May to October of 2000. In December of 2000 kim joined the Platters of which he is currently a member. In March of 2002 Kim performed his first solo engagement at the Pelican's Nest. He was hired by Ms Debbie Carey and performed on a solo basis there for two years while still singing with The Platters.Kim has been thrilling audiences for the past three years with his unique one man show. He plays a variety of instruments including alto sax, marimba vibes, flute, keyboards along with being a multi talented vocalist.His music ranges from Sinatra to music from the 70's. One of Kim's favorite styles of music is Brazilian music. He sings in Portuguese as well.
